Artist Statement

My name is Maeve Wilhoit and I am a graduate from VCU arts with a major in Communication Arts. I am based in Manassas Virginia and collaborate with other artists in the northern Virginia area. 

I am inspired by young minds' innate ability to free the imagination, and the possibilities that come with teaching them tools to create. Art is fundamental in recognizing yourself, exploring new perspectives, and finding your voice. In my work I utilize meditative lines, and playful uses of color to execute thoughtful ideas around the relationship with myself as well as interpersonal relationships. My work is a surrealist self reflection, I hope to be able to teach the importance of this through illustration, and offer a space where you can also be meditative, playful, and thoughtful.
